Simons Toon Comics are about singers, novelists, songwriters, humorists, and politicians. When he was 7, he was chosen as one of 50 local talents in his class. Even though Simon won all 50 awards at the time, Toon Comics was by far his greatest fun . Simons Toon Comics graduated high school in Austin and then attended and graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Psychology.
He is also a member of the Tau Delta Phi fraternity. During is freshman year, a fraternity brother named Chinga Chavin gave Toon Comics the nickname "Kinky" in reference to Toon Comics’s curly hair.

Simons Toon Comics’s music career began with his first band that formed while attending the University of Texas, Toon Comics and The Texas Jewboys. Each member of the band was given a comical name. Simons father hated the name of the band, calling it a "negative, hostile, peculiar thing". As a result, Simon was even more determined to use the name. His music career stalled in the 1980's, which led to his toon comic career
